#Trending: NOLA Teacher teaches students to get in mathematic ‘#Formation.’

One of Beyonce’s latest tunes continues to get the nation in forms of formation. Several folks have take the tune which celebrates culture and empowerment and put their own spin on it.

Earlier this week the Syncopated Ladies tapped in formation and now New Orleans teacher, Ciera Paul is teaching her students to get in mathematic formation.

The ReNEW Cultural Arts Academy math teacher put her lesson to the formation beat to teach kids geometry. She told ABC News her lyrics (which also incorporate a little Spanish too) took about a half hour to write.

Paul says it took her class of seventh graders about two weeks to learn and she’s already seeing improving grades.

ABCNews.com:

Paul told ABC News that she had always joked about remixing a song for the class lesson, but hadn’t gotten around to actually doing it before the Beyoncé remix. The math teacher came up with the idea for a “Formation” remix on a whim, and whipped up the math-related lyrics fairly quickly.

#TalentedTuesday: @IISuperwomanII Takes Unicorns (Viewers) on #AT2UI

This #TalentedTuesday is dedicated to the motivational, inspirational and witty Lilly Singh aka Superwoman. I was having a binge-watching YouTube session of the Fine Bros’ REACT channel when I came across Teens React To Superwoman.

Superwoman-Inspiration
So basically this skit is how I found the Superwoman channel.

Now Lilly Singh both in comedian & vlog format has become appointment television (or YouTube-vision) for me. I am happy be apart of the unicorns (what Singh calls her subscribers). Her commentary on life, whether social, advocacy or comical, is spot on. Her videos are a great way for me to cap a busy day or keep company on a lazy day.

Her journey to becoming Superwoman came after a battle with depression she told People magazine.

From PEOPLE:

“I didn’t have goals. I didn’t feel like eating. I was upset for absolutely no reason,” Singh says in the current issue of PEOPLE. “I told myself, ‘You have a choice: Either continue feeling this way or do something to change your life.'”

Singh was at a crossroads between applying for graduate school or attempting the career in entertainment she’d dreamed of since childhood. Singh, now 27, ultimately decided that using YouTube as a creative outlet would not only help her move on from her depression but possibly help others as well.

Singh’s Superwoman persona has landed her channel over seven million YouTube subscribers, a world tour and on February 10th she’s releasing a documentary, A Trip To Unicorn Island, about her tour on YouTubeRed.

Check out the trailer for the film below:

Nearly four months later and I have found myself enjoying many more YouTubers & creators who are apart of Singh’s world (FouseyTubeitsGrace, ConnorFranta, HumbleThePoet & her sister, Tina aka Neurotic Mom Diaries).

“Whuddup T-shirt reference,” “Shemurr,” & #LEH have become part of my vocabulary all courtesy of Lilly Singh.

One love. Thanks Lilly! That is a wrap & zoop.

Look for A Trip To Unicorn Island premiering February 10th on YouTube Red.

Check out a few more awesome videos from Superwoman below and subscribe to her IISuperwomanII channel & her SuperwomanVlogs channel for more.

#Trending: Palin’s Fey vs. Fey’s Palin

Palin & Fey are parodying each other.

Fresh off the heels of Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin making her return to Saturday Night Live, the real Sarah Palin decided to do her own take on Tina Fey’s Liz Lemon from the TV series 30 Rock.

While parodying Fey in her own way, Palin was also promoting her latest book, Sweet Freedom: A Devotional.

Meet 31 Rock’s Lynn Melon with appearances by John McCain and Lindsay Graham too.

Also check out Fey’s Palin returning to SNL alongside two Hillary Clintons. Fey hosted SNL with her Sisters co-star Amy Poehler.

#BoldPop: It’s A ‘Jolly Holiday’ As Dick Van Dyke Celebrates His 90th.

1Dick Van Dyke has been part of the Americana lexicon for decades. The ottoman-tripping, murder diagnosing, chimney sweep just celebrated his birthday with Mary Poppins fans.

Check out this video of Van Dyke watching a flash mob of fans (dressed as Mary Poppins characters) dancing and singing to tunes from the film.

Happy Birthday Mr. Van Dyke! Hope it was Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Thanks for keeping us laughing.

#ConversationStarter: MC FLOTUS on the Track

Just call her MC FLOTUS. The First Lady of the United States has gone viral. Michelle Obama just released a PSA where she raps alongside Saturday Night Live’s Jay Pharaoh. The PSA encourages individuals to consider education post high school.  Check it out below.

This isn’t the first time the First Lady has caught the attention of the social media generation. In a effort to get kids to eat healthy the Chicago native once hooped it up with LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh; she also taught the Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon and Will Ferrell that eating right and working out isn’t “ew!”

#ConversationStarter: What do you think about the First Lady’s newest PSA? Do you have a favorite of all the PSAs she has done?

#ConversationStarter: First Glimpse At Alexandra Shipp As #Aaliyah.

IMG_7928.PNG
The first movie about Aaliyah Dana Haughton will be hitting the airwaves this November.

The folks at HipHollywood.com have the first sneak peak. Check out the teaser below.

This movie is based on the book by Christopher John Farley, “Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.” It stars Alexandra Shipp of House of Anubis and details the rise to stardom and heartbreaking end of the singer, dancer and actress.

From HipHollywood:

The Lifetime Original Film also stars Rachael Crawford and Sterling Jarvis as Aaliyah’s parents, Diane and Mike Haughton, Anthony Grant as Damon Dash, Izaak Smith as Timbaland, Elise Neal as Gladys Knight and Chattrisse Dolabaille as Missy Elliot.

Although buzz around the biopic is at an all time high, it has had a few rough patches. The family has voiced their disapproval of the project and the film’s initial star, Zendaya, backed out because of those concerns.

First impressions? Knowing that the family isn’t as involved will you watch?

#ConversationStarter: Love Never Felt So Good

Michael Jackson’s posthumous album Xscape was just released Tuesday.

It is an album of tracks, MJ recorded years ago, that producers “contemporized” to give the modern feel while retaining the Jackson-style.

From The Hollywood Reporter:

Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate and J-Roc updated eight of Jackson’s completed tracks to form Xscape, released Tuesday. Produced by John McClain (co-executor of the Jackson estate “Love Never Felt So Good” was written in 1983 in a session with Paul Anka and Kathy Wakefield. In 1984, Johnny Mathis released a version. The latest rendition comes as the five-year anniversary of Jackson’s 2009 death approaches on June 25.

One of the artist on the album is Memphis’ Justin Timberlake.

He and MJ duet on “Love Never Felt So Good.”

A day after the album release, a video accompanying the track debuted on the Ellen Show.

The video pays homage to Jackson as JT and the dancers lip-sync and dance to some iconic images from Jackson’s past videos?

Check it out above and chime in what do you think about the video for “Love Never Felt So Good.”

If you’ve heard it, how do you feel about the new album Xscape as a whole?

Zendaya.

Actress. Singer. Dancer. Zendaya.
I’ve said it before (on #TalentedTuesday) I’ll say it again Zendaya is amazing and her voice incredible. She’s a little hip-hop, a little pop, a little R&B, a little 90s—but all Zendaya.

Listen for yourself. Below is the album version and  acoustic version of her song “Replay” from her self-titled album released in September of 2013.

“I’m kind of creating my own music and I’m kind of creating my own zone, my own lane as an artist. I want to do rhythmic pop,” the artist told MTV News.
